Nicol Geving, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I strive to provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment in which my clients can explore the issues and challenges they face. I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic partnership to help uncover the strengths and resources we all possess to bring about the changes we desire in our lives.
I feel privileged to be able to offer my assistance to others on this shared journey and commend you for reaching out for help to make things better.
I have always been a “helper” and over the years have worked in a variety of capacities in schools, community service agencies, women’s shelters, and as a mother of two children (who are now adults) and three dogs. I believe that each role has helped me to better understand the issues my clients face in their own lives.
Nicol accepts Medicaid/Title 19- Wellpoint/Iowa Total Care, Midlands Choice, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, EAP, and Private Pay options.

Carissa Schmadeke, LISW
Licensed Independent Social Worker
I strive to empower individuals and their families to overcome life’s challenges and become the best version of themselves. By creating a safe and supportive environment conducive for healing, I believe everyone has the ability to uncover their strengths and find resources best suited for them in reaching their goals.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults, and for the past three years, I have been utilizing evidence-based interventions such as cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, client-centered, and trauma-informed therapy to assist clients in reaching their goals. I studied at the University of Northern Iowa where I obtained a master’s degree in Social Work with a trauma-informed care specialization. I hold an active license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Iowa.
I firmly believe that the therapeutic relationship is vital for the success of the therapy, and I have found success in this while working with those who have concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, grief and loss, and behavioral difficulties, among many others. I have a passion for people and believe that everyone deserves a safe space to work through some of life’s most difficult moments. I would be honored to have the opportunity to work with you to identify and achieve your own personal goals.
Carissa accepts Medicaid/Title 19- Wellpoint/Iowa Total Care, Midlands Choice, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, EAP, and Private Pay options.

Alex Wirtz
Master of Social Work Intern
First things first: come as you are. You be you, and I'll be me; everything else can be
figured out after. I have three important rules in my space:
1) Be prepared to unmask over time as we grow more comfortable with each other
2) Your comfort is paramount. If you are uncomfortable or unsure about sitting and talking during a session, let's fix that. You can draw, crochet, knit, craft, use fidgets, or even play video games in our sessions if it helps you open up. Bring what you want.
3) Sometimes healing means taking a break. This may be a short break from therapy altogether, or coming to the session to have someone listen only.
I am neurodivergent, a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and have a chronic, invisible
illness. If you ever felt out of place with therapists before because of any of these
characteristics, know I am here to meet you where you are with empathy and experience
of my own.
Sessions with me will be free of charge until after I graduate and obtain my license.
Starting in June 2026, any session with me will be charged at the regular rate for
Reflections Mental Health Services.
I am currently an intern in the last semester of my Master's in Social Work program at
The University of Northern Iowa. Prior to this, I spent a decade as a licensed massage therapist.
A therapist in the area, a spiritual coach, and an energy healer.
I work with many different types of clients, but my specialty is helping those with any mix of needs.
of the following triad: neurodiversity, those with, and trauma. These three uniquely
influence the treatments applied to each separately, and we will dig into how your life
manifests any strengths or challenges from them. This allows us to work together to find
a way forward that will be achievable.
I encourage the use of art, expressive arts, or video game therapy to do both.
Enjoy our time together and build a supportive environment that will help you feel safe.
and at ease. During your first session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy.
and discuss ways to proceed together. After this, I am likely to include a mix of various.
other treatment types that best fit your goal.
